On Windows 10, I need to explicitly lock the session before sleep while configured to 'Never' require to sign in. I need to be able to lock the screen & sleep on user's request, but when the system goes to sleep automatically (on timer) the system should awake and not ask for a password. Would this be possible?

If the user account has a password, and the machine is locked, Windows will ask for it to unlock. You would have to remove the password.
