I'm trying to have a default root location for the server block as in
server
root /foo/html
index index.html
so that all requests by default are going to be served from /var/nginx/html
,except for the php files which I want them served from another root:
server
root /foo/html
index index.html
location ~ .php$
root /usr/share/nginx/html;
The problem is that whenever a php file is looked for, it is tried to be served from the first root /foo/html
What is the correct syntax for that?
nginx php

This seems like it should work. (Except of course you shoudn't put your own content in /usr/share/nginx.) Are you actually having a problem?
