I had a problem with turning on jmx in tomcat. I run tomcat as a windows service. I tried to turn on jmx in the following way.
Creating setenv.sh file and adding there following code

set JAVA_OPTS="%JAVA_OPTS%
-Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote
-Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.port=9999
-Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.ssl=false
-Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.authenticate=false
-Djava.rmi.server.hostname=10.170.11.183;

But there was no effect.
So i did it in the following way
i opened CMD and run followign command
tomcat8w.exe //ES/my-service and i set
This in Java Options section

-Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote
-Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.port=9999
-Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.ssl=false
-Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.authenticate=false
-Djava.rmi.server.hostname=10.170.11.183

My problem is solved but i would like to know why setting the same thing in the setenv.sh file wasn't successful?
