One of my client uses a very light weight user interface. Now, they are thinking to add an extra layer of security with help of user login mechanism.
For that, a light-weight but secured database is needed. The filtered list includes MSSQL Compact edition and SqLite with encryption. Due to security concerns, SqLite is the second choice over MSSQL-Compact Edition.
Now, my question is what could be impact of installing the compact edition of mssql on Bastion server?

Depends on the capabilities of the server, it's traffic load, other processes it might be running, bandwidth, etc. Honestly, it's a very complicated calculation, not worth the effort. The faster option is to try it and see.
