The Problem
I have multiple Django instances and a single Lucene instance. I want the Django instances to be able to communicate with Lucene and perform search queries and receive results using an encrypted connection.
I can't use Solr because we are lacking time and we have performed modifications to Lucene code.
I'm looking for a way to wrap Lucene and be able to handles the connections from the different Django instances efficiently.
My Attempt at a Solution
I'm trying to avoid writing this wrapper for Lucene by myself. I've looked a lot and have found people using messaging queues (like Apache Kafka). But it seems like an overkill (or maybe not?).
Question
Is there a simple API in Java that I can import Lucene into and use it to answer the queries from the different Django instances? Is Apache Kafka a good option for this (using messaging queues)?
Thanks for the help

Since your code looks like written in java(predicting because you are looking for java api) kafka will be good option, Other option is rabbitmq, however choose well based on your use case and throughput required.
