This morning I Installed some new RAM into our PowerEdge R730.
Old Configuration was 64GB 2133mhz in 8GB modules (8 x 8)
Slots A1,A2,A3,A4,B1,B2,B3,B4 were used
New Configuration was 64GB 2400mhz in 16GB modules (4 x 16)
Slots A1, A2, B3, B4 were used
WIth the new configuration it booted up fine and worked for a few hours then crashed with the following error message.
I have reinstalled the old memory and it is working fine.
During my investigation i found that I should have installed the new memory into slots A1, A2, B1, B2. (see beginning of second section, Dual Processor Configuration)
My question is - would installing the memory into the wrong slots be enough to boot the system but give errors a few hours after running? Or is it more likely to be a bad memory stick?
