I'm new in this, I'm providing a simple storage solution for a client (for a petrol station site) with the following scenario.
He wants secure file sharing ability between Windows Server and ESXi server, and also allow backups to the public cloud.
I would like to know what are my options, I have the following in mind.
To provide a NAS/SAN device with iSCSI configured for this as its supported on both but with iSCSI ESXi formats the disk with VMFS and the format is not readible by windows server.
Is NFS a better solution ?
Plus how can I provide a public cloud backup from a NAS/SAN device, I mean will the cloud backup be from the windows server (as the disk is connected to the windows server) and upload settings configured for the drive via the inbuilt onedrive ? Is my understanding correct ? I'm looking at a simple basic cloud backup solution.
Thank You

This question appears to be off-topic. The users who voted to close gave this specific reason:
- "Requests for product, service, or learning material recommendations are off-topic because they attract low quality, opinionated and spam answers, and the answers become obsolete quickly. Instead, describe the business problem you are working on, the research you have done, and the steps taken so far to solve it." – joeqwerty, Ward

This is really 2 separate questions, and they're both very broad and depend on your exact needs. For the first question, what do you mean sharing between Windows and ESXi? What do you want to share between host and (presumably) guest OSes?

I doubt the questions are two, I know of a NAS device that is cloud upload capable. Secondly, sharing in the sense that the disk is accessible and the content viewable by both windows and ESXi, this is possible by NFS, I am just looking to know if a better method exists, thanks..
