Pretty soon, I will be upgrading several servers in our environment. Among those will be the dhcp servers. I figured this would be a perfect opportunity to configure a managed service account for DNS dynamic updates. Currently we use a standard user account with a non-expiring password. Which seems to be the norm when configuring Secured DNS.

However if I could configure a managed service account instead, this would be great.
Can it be done and if so, how?

  • I would also appreciate that if a downvote is being given to explain why. This is a legitimate question that has no answer from what I could tell.

  • I've never used the Windows DHCP service, so I may be missing something, is this any different to configuring any other service to use a managed service account? Have you tried following the instructions here?

I’m trying to configure Dynamic DNS updates which the DHCP Server used. https://blogs.msmvps.com/acefekay/2016/08/13/dynamic-dns-updates-how-to-get-it-to-work-with-dhcp-scavenging-static-entries-their-timestamps-the-dnsupdateproxy-group-and-dhcp-name-protection/
