Matthew Gray Gubler (Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, 1980. március 9. –) amerikai színész, filmrendező, rajzművész, korábban divatmodell.



Élete


Matthew 2004-ben debütált színészként The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (Édes vízi élet) című filmben. Azonban az igazi ismertséget a CBS csatorna 2005-ben induló sorozatában, a Gyilkos elmék-ben alakított ifjú zseni, Dr. Spencer Reid szerepe hozta meg számára. Matthew rendezőként több rövidfilmet és videoklipet is jegyez, elmondása szerint jobb rendezőnek tartja magát, mint színésznek. A színészet és rendezés mellett Gube szeret (és tud is) rajzolni, műveit saját honlapján teszi közzé, illetve Csehországban kiállítása is volt. Matthew a New York University Tisch School of Art tagozatán szerzett diplomát. Nagyapja, Maxwell Kelch volt az első elnöke a las vegasi Chamber of Commerce-nek, illetve segített megalapítani az első las vegasi rádióállomást. Gubler nővére, Laura Dahl divattervező. Modellként dolgozott többek között a Tommy Hilfiger divatháznál is. Wes Anderson bátorította, hogy menjen el The Life Aquatic meghallgatására, és jól tette, mert Gubler kapott is benne szerepet. Ezt követte Dr. Reid szerepe a Criminal Minds sorozatban, majd jött egy újabb mozifilm, az RV Bill Murray-vel 2006-ban, ezután az Alvin and the Chipmunks című produkcióban ő adta Simon hangját. Első komolyabb rendezése a Life Aquatic 'mockumentaries'-e volt, majd jött az 5 epizódból álló The Unauthorized Documentary, melyben a hollywoodi sztárviselkedést parodizálja ki.
