I wanted a graphics card for my PC (an HP Pavilion 500-081ea) and was advised to get an ASUS GTX 1650 Phoenix OC 4GB Card. I have installed the card, including software and drivers, but the card is not showing in device manager. I have tried reseating the card and updating the bios, but it’s still not working.

I can’t see anything in the bios for switching from integrated graphics to a card, and as far as I can tell from the limited information for the card, it doesn’t need anything other than being connected to the motherboard and the monitor.

Before I return the card to the shop where I bought it, is there anything else I could try?

Thank you.

  • So what exactly is the situation now? Where is your monitor plugged in at the moment? When you plug the monitor into the card (rather than the motherboard) do you see the bios screen?

  • Hi, if I plug the monitor into the card, I still have display, which is what confuses me. The card must be working in some way, yet it's not showing in device manager or dxdiag. If I do a 'Will it run on this machine' type of scan (on systemrequirementslab or similar), it doesn't show there either.

  • It won't show as ASUS, if that's what you're looking for. It should appear as Nvidia something.

  • I can now see an Nvidia entry under Sound Video and Game Controllers. It's "NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device (Wave Extensible) (WDM)". However, nothing is showing in Dxdiag still.
