I have a thin-provisioning storage, on top of which I created an LVM disk.
I didn't know that I had to set issue_discards = 1 in lvm.conf in order to have my disks actually deleted when I run lvremove.

I activated the option and it's working fine for new LVs, however I would like to reactivate the old disks using the metadata backups (I have all the archives) so I can delete them safely.

I know of this answer where they restore the disks through start size and offset, but I'm unsure if I can use it because I suspect that offset could have been reused in the meantime (maybe it's a stupid assumption given that the actual storage still had those sectors marked as occupied).

Is it possible to simply remap the LV in /dev/mapper using the id I find in the metadata backup?
