Slate é unha revista en liña de novas, política e cultura, publicada en inglés. Politicamente orientada para a esquerda, foi creada en 1996 nos Estados Unidos, polo editor Michael Kinsley. Inicialmente baixo a propiedade da Microsoft, como parte do MSN, en 21 de decembro de 2004 foi comprada pola Washington Post Company. Dende o 4 de xuño de 2008, Slate foi administrada polo Grupo Slate, entidade creada pola Washington Post Company para desenvolver e xestionar só revistas en liña.
A versión francesa (slate.fr) foi lanzada en febreiro de 2009 por un grupo de catro xornalistas, incluíndo Jean-Marie Colombani, Eric Leser e o economista Jacques Attali. Os fundadores teñen o 50% da compañía, mentres o Grupo Slate ten 15%.[1][2]


A páxina web da Slate ( ISSN 1091-2339 ), que é actualizado diariamente, abrangue política, artes, cultura, deportes e novas. A revista é coñecida (e ás veces criticada) por adoptar posicións contrarias ás opinións maioritarias, usando argumentos contraintuitivos.[3][4][5]
