Un biólogo ou unha bióloga é un científico dedicado á bioloxía. Os biólogos estudan os organismos vivos e a súa relación coa súa contorna. Os biólogos involucrados na investigación de base tentan descubrir os mecanismos que gobernan o funcionamento dos organismos vivos. Os biólogos que se dedican á investigación aplicada tentan desenvolver ou mellorar procesos médicos, industriais ou agrícolas. Algúns biólogos traballan en postos directivos coordinando ou supervisando a investigación. Os técnicos levan a cabo tarefas especializadas utilizando equipamento de laboratorio.

Existen varios graos e mestrados das disciplinas da bioloxía que en Galicia se imparten nas tres universidade: na Universidade da Coruña, na Universidade de Santiago e na Universidade de Vigo.
