I have a network where 90% of my users are Mac. We used to be windows mostly years ago but we slowly transitioned. My file server is a Windows Server 2012 R2 box. There has been an endless battle I have been fighting where for some reason even after Mac user closes or disconnects from the server, the file server leaves the files that user had "open". So there will be times where the user will want to move or rename the file but the server denies it because it thinks the file is open.

I was thinking maybe there could be a way or a setting in Windows which I could specify that when a file has been open for a certain period of time that it closes the file automatically. Or even close all files at a certain time of day.
