I have multiple applications running behind an Nginx proxy. I am using Elastic Beanstalk multi-docker deployment to deploy the setup in production. The problem is that Elastic load balancer requires a health check. I can configure a health check endpoint like this and set it in ELB.
location /health
access_log off;
return 200 'A-OK!';
add_header Content-Type text/plain;
Problem is that how to make ELB health check fail if one of my application upstream servers become unavailable? This health check only checks if my nginx is up or running - not upstream servers.
