O ge'ez[4] (ግዕዝ, gəʿəz) é unha antiga lingua semítica meridional que xurdiu en Eritrea e na rexión norte de Etiopía, no Corno de África. Foi a lingua oficial do Reino de Aksum e da corte imperial etíope.
Hoxe, o ge'ez mantense como lingua litúrxica da Igrexa etíope tewahedo, da Igrexa eritrea tewahedo, da Igrexa católica etíope, da Igrexa católica eritrea, e da comunidade xudía Beta Israel. Porén, o amhárico etíope (a principal lingua franca da moderna Etiopía) ou outras linguas locais, poden ser empregadas para os sermóns. O tigriña e o tigré están estreitamente relacionadas co ge'ez.[5] Porén, algúns lingüistas non cren que o ge'ez constitúa o devanceiro común das linguas etíopes modernas, senón que o ge'ez converteuse nunha lingua separada a partir dunha hipotética lingua non atestada,[6] e que en realidade é unha lingua irmá extinta do tigré e o tigriña.[7]
