As per these instructions, I'm attempting to configure an S3 bucket to publish messages to an SQS queue when a file is uploaded.
I have two sets of CloudFormation templates.
The first sets up the queue and policy like so:
"ImageUploadComplete":
"Type": "AWS::SQS::Queue",
"Properties":
"QueueName": "ImageUploadComplete"
,
"S3SqsPolicy":
"Type": "AWS::SQS::QueuePolicy",
"Properties":
"Queues": [
"Ref": "ImageUploadComplete"
],
"PolicyDocument":
"Version": "2012-10-17",
"Statement": [
"Effect": "Allow",
"Principal":
"AWS": "*"
,
"Action": [
"sqs:*"
],
"Resource":
"Ref": "ImageUploadComplete"
]
}
The second sets up the bucket:
"assets":
"Properties":
"BucketName":
"Fn::Sub": "assets.$MasterStackName.$Environment.********.com.au"
,
"CorsConfiguration":
"CorsRules": [
"AllowedHeaders": [
"*"
],
"AllowedMethods": [
"GET",
"HEAD",
"PUT"
],
"AllowedOrigins": [
"*"
],
"Id": "CorsRule",
"MaxAge": 3000
]
,
"NotificationConfiguration":
"QueueConfigurations": [
"Queue":
"Fn::If": [
"Production",
"arn:aws:sqs:ap-southeast-2:************:ImageUploadComplete",
"arn:aws:sqs:ap-southeast-2:************:ImageUploadComplete"
]
,
"Event": "s3:ObjectCreated:*",
"Filter":
"S3Key":
"Rules": [
"Name": "prefix",
"Value": "user/"
]
]
,
"Type": "AWS::S3::Bucket",
"DeletionPolicy": "Retain"
When I run the second set of templates without the NotificationConfiguration property it runs fine, but when I add the NotificationConfiguration property I get the error “Unable to validate the following destination configurations”. Googling around seems to indicate that this error would arise as a result of S3 failing to publish a test message, but given that the queue exists and the policy is extremely permissive I can't see why this would be the case. What am I missing?
