Sergei Eisenstein


Sergei Mikhaílóvitsj Eisenstein (22. janúar 1898 — 11. febrúar 1948) var sovéskur kvikmyndaleikstjóri og kenningasmiður þekktastur fyrir þöglu myndirnar Verkfall, Orrustuskipið Potjemkín og Október. Kenningar hans í kvikmyndagerð snerust um að nota klippingu til að skapa merkingu með því að leysa úr andstæðum í anda þráttarhyggju Hegels. Með því að setja saman ótengd skot mátti stuða áhorfandann og gera kvikmyndina þannig að byltingartæki. Rit hans eru enn notuð við kennslu í kvikmyndaskólum um allan heim.
