Glottolog é un proxecto da base de datos bibliográfica das linguas do mundo, en particular, das menos coñecidas. Creado polo Instituto Max Planck de Leipzig, Alemaña, é un intento de acadar unha fonte bibliográfica completa para as linguas do mundo (95% da diversidade lingüística do mundo) e para achegar unha forte base empírica para as definicións de linguas e as clasificacións da linguaxe.[1] Está composto dun catálogo de linguas e familias de linguas do mundo chamado "Languoid" e a súa bibliografía " Langdoc ". Asígnase un identificador único e estable, o Glottocode, a todas as familias, linguas e dialectos, chamado "langoids ", que se identifican. Estes son organizadas a través dunha clasificación xenealóxica (a árbore Glottolog), que está baseada nas máis recentes investigacións dispoñibles. Ofrece acceso a máis de 180 000 referencias de traballos descritivos, tales como gramáticas, dicionarios, listaxes de palabras e textos.[2],[3]
