A lingua kabiye é unha lingua níxer-congo falada principalmente no norte de Togo. Ó longo do século XX, produciuse unha gran migración ó centro e ó sur de Togo e tamén a Ghana e Benín. Segundo a oficina de estatística de Lomé, os falantes de kabiye representaban o 23% da poboación de Togo en 1999.[1]


O kabiye é unha das dúas linguas nacionais de Togo (xunto co ewe). No contexto togolés, "lingua nacional" implica que a lingua é promocionada nos medios de comunicación nacionais e na educación.[2]
