Baia Mare (húngaro: Nagybánya, alemán: Frauenbach) é a capital do distrito de Maramureş en Romanía. Localízase na parte oriental do distrito, no curso medio do río Sasar, a unha altitude de 228 m. Conta con 137 976 habitantes (2002)

En 1910 o 65% da poboación era húngara, o 34% romanesa e o 1,2% alemá.

En 2002 o 82,85% era romanesa, 14,79% húngara, 1,5% cíngara, 0,35% alemá e 0,25% ucraína.

Segundo o censo de 2002 o 84,56% (116 674) teñen o romanés como lingua materna, húngaro 19 792, romí 762, ucraíno 277 e alemán 265
